Raphaëlle Bres

Conflicts, whether interpersonal or societal, have been at the core of Raphaëlle’s interests since she began studying. She first explored their legal dimensions during her Bachelor’s in Law, before discovering how they shape territories and cultures through a Master’s in Geopolitics.

While researching grassroots organizing around new public transportation projects in Los Angeles for her master’s thesis, she observed highly charged public consultations and contentious town hall meetings. She further engaged with these dynamics during an internship in an urban planning agency working on the transformation of the French grands ensembles (high rise housing units/Plattenbau).

Her move into a large, multicultural and multigenerational shared apartment led her to discover mediation as an effective process for navigating conflict. Since 2023, Raphaëlle has been working as a certified mediator with diverse groups, including friends, roommates, and colleagues in activist contexts. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a focus on clinical psychology.
